The Clark

The Clark Art Institute, known as The Clark, has appointed Terry Clewley as Head of Human Resources. Hanold Associates’ Ashley Schiele and Sarah Kennedy led the search for this Williamstown, Massachusetts-based role.

As Head of Human Resources, Terry will assess, expand and professionalize the existing HR strategy and programs, creating a function that is more efficient, modernized and strategic. Terry will focus on embedding DE&I initiatives within policies and creating additional training and development programs to shape a more engaged workforce. Reporting to Chief Financial Officer Robin Sher, Terry will serve as a member of the Directors Group and extended leadership team. Prior to joining the Clark, Terry served as Senior Administration and Human Resources Manager at Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

The Clark is an art museum and center for research and higher education, housing exceptional European and American paintings and sculpture, extensive collections of master prints and drawings, English silver and early photography. The Clark library, with more than 290,000 volumes, is one of the nation’s premier art history libraries. Located in Williamstown in the Berkshires of Western Massachusetts, it is one of a small number of institutions globally that is both an art museum and a center for research, critical discussion and higher education in the visual arts. The Clark’s mission and geographical location define three essential aspects of its character and identity: the quality of its art, the beauty of its pastoral setting, and the depth of its commitment to the generation of ideas.
