Patagonia, a high-performance outdoor apparel and accessories brand, has appointed Daniel Silva as Senior Director of Human Resources, APAC. Hanold Associates’ Lisa Butkus and Neela Seenandan led the search for this role based in Yokohama, Japan.
Originally focused on climbing gear, Patagonia has since expanded into apparel and accessories for a range of outdoor sports and activities, including ski/snowboarding, surfing, mountain biking and more. Beyond apparel and accessories, Patagonia sells food under its Patagonia Provisions brand, which addresses environmental issues within the food supply chain. Headquartered in Ventura, California, Patagonia has more than 100 retail stores in the US, Europe and Asia and sells their products through specialty retailers, catalogs, or its self-owned website and stores. Daniel previously served as a Strategy and Operations Manager at Amazon Web Services heading strategy and operations for Amazon’s training and certification organization in Japan. In this new role at Patagonia, Daniel will act as the HR leader for Japan and serve as a critical member of the region’s senior leadership team, developing and communicating strategies to support a capable and engaged culture. Additionally, as the Senior Director of HR, APAC, Daniel will act as a mentor to other HR leaders in the region, providing direction to maintaining the company’s culture and values with Patagonia’s Mission to Save our Home Planet.
