Hanold Associates recruited Kate Sanderson as R1 RCM’s Chief Human Resources Officer. Jason Hanold and Mayank Parikh led the search for the role based in R1’s Chicago headquarters.
Founded in 2003, R1 RCM is a leading provider of services that help healthcare providers generate sustainable improvements in their operating margins and healthcare quality while also improving patient, physician, and staff satisfaction.
The company provides three main product offerings: Revenue Cycle Management, Physician Advisory Services, and Quality and Total Cost of Care Services.
R1 customers, typically, are multi-hospital systems, including faith-based or community healthcare systems, academic medical centers and independent ambulatory clinics, and their affiliated physician practice groups. Representative clients include Ascension Health, Catholic Health East, Henry Ford Health System, Intermountain Healthcare, Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center, and Fairview Health Services.
In 2016, the company strengthened its relationship with Ascension Health, inking a 10-year exclusive revenue cycle management and physician advisory services agreement and took on a joint $200 million investment from Ascension Health and TowerBrook Capital Partners, and changed its name from Accretive Health to R1 RCM. With this significant investment, the organization has entered a phase of rapid growth—from 3,000 employees to over 10,000 in the past two years—and is expected to grow to 18,000. For 2018 fiscal year, the organization is projecting $850-900 million in revenue.
Ms. Sanderson joins R1 RCM from Aon PLC. Reporting directly to the CEO, she will serve as a partner and coach to the management team, Board and business leaders. Ms. Sanderson will also be a critical member of the management team and will work with the CEO to drive and deliver upon R1’s human resources objectives, develop company policies and lead strategic and tactical human capital management planning.
“Kate is an exceptional leader and brings a wealth of HR experience to this rapidly scaling company and leadership team. Her strong and broad global experience, including M&A, operations and talent, makes her a terrific fit for the CHRO at R1,” said Jason Hanold, Managing Partner, Hanold Associates.
