What Are Ellison’s First Priorities, Challenges?

As J.C. Penney Co. Inc.’s new president, Marvin Ellison will have to hit the ground running to prepare to take over the top post from current CEO Mike Ullman.

Ellison, who will join Penney (NYSE: JCP) on Nov. 1, will have nine months at the Plano-based retailer before he assumes the CEO role on Aug. 1.

“He will have to start shaping a strong strategy and vision,” said Jason Hanold, managing partner of Illinois-based executive search firm Hanold Associates, adding that the transition time is something some retailers can only wish for. “He will be able to solidify it proactively instead of getting thrown in.” Read the full Dallas Business Journal article by Danielle Abril.
