Warburg Pincus-backed Pregis Retains Hanold Associates for Chief HR Officer Search

Pregis

Warburg Pincus-backed Pregis has retained Hanold Associates for their Chief Human Resources Officer search. Sandra Peña and Ashley Schiele are heading the search for this Chicago-area based position.

Pregis LLC is a leading manufacturer, marketer and supplier of innovative protective packaging products and solutions for a variety of industries. The company’s broad product offerings provide protection to meet customer needs in three segments: inside the box, surface protection and mailing and bagging solutions. Pregis makes sure customers’ products are safe when traveling across the country or just across the warehouse.

Pregis currently employs 2,300 employees in 24+ North American facilities and additional manufacturing operations across Europe. The company’s reach continues to increase as the rapidly growing e-commerce sector is fueling global demand for a strong protective packaging partner. Pregis is working through a strong network of distributors, fabricators and converting partners, with support teams ready to provide industry-leading service to leaders in e-commerce and beyond.

The company was recently acquired by Warburg Pincus, a global private equity firm that has been investing since 1966. With more than $65B in assets under management, Warburg Pincus is focused on globally integrated partnerships and long-term investments. The investment from Warburg has aligned perfectly with the growth trajectory of Pregis—the company has doubled revenue to more than $700M and more than doubled profit to approximately $130M in the last five years by “wowing” its customers.  The organization plans to double again in the next several years.

Pregis has experienced significant growth organically through new product development, additional services and acquisition. It has acquired smaller packaging companies in recent years, driving synergies through vertical integrations and an expanded product suite. Both organic and acquisition growth continue to expand the capabilities of Pregis to meet customer needs and enhance its ability to deliver value in a rapidly changing environment.

Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) is a key member of the Pregis leadership team. The company is excited to offer this opportunity to a person looking to contribute value and drive impact as Pregis continues to build on rapid growth with people as the core enabler. Characteristics required for success in this role are a hands-on leadership style, strategic mindset and an ability to partner with the CEO. The person assuming this role needs to be leadership team-ready with the ability to quickly integrate and take the reins.

The CHRO is responsible for developing and executing Human Resources strategy in support of the overall business plan and strategic direction of the organization. This person provides strategic hands-on leadership by partnering with the executive team in designing and executing HR plans to drive growth in line with the business strategy while managing organizational risks and liabilities.
