MORSCO

MORSCO partners with Hanold Associates in search for Chief HR Officer, based in Dallas. Keri Gavin and Sonia Nagra are leading the assignment.

With over 40,000 customers and retailing more than 100,000 products for over $1.8billion in sales, MORSCO is a leading US distributor of commercial and residential plumbing, waterworks and HVAC supplies and equipment. The core of the business is Morrison Supply, who in 2011 received a significant investment from Advent International, a private equity firm. Changing the name to MORSCO, they began expanding rapidly, with 13 acquisitions between 2011 and 2018, and opening new locations of their own throughout the sun belt region of the United States.

Headquartered in Dallas, TX, they have 189 branches in 17 states, and a combined 2500 employees. The company currently operates 9 business units: Fortiline Waterworks, Morrison Supply Company, MORSCO HVAC Supply, Murray Supply Company, Farnsworth Wholesale, Express Pipe & Supply, DeVore & Johnson, Expressions Home Gallery and Wholesale Specialties with a plan to continue expansion and become the #1 choice in each of the markets they serve by 2023.

In May 2018, they announced that they were acquired by The Reece Group, an Australian company, for $1.44B. The Reece Group stated that they planned to operate MORSCO separately and retain their existing leadership team. Reece operates in the same market with a similar business model throughout Australia and New Zealand, with more than 450 stores and 5000 employees.

Desiring to improve the lives of their customers and their people, MORSCO prides itself on being very customer focused, operating locally through each of their business units, and strives to be an entrepreneurial culture where corporate works for the field and not the other way around. The company is very loyal to their employees, preferring to promote internally and operating with a “One MORSCO” philosophy, with each of their brands working together. They have made a point to integrate the culture of each of the different companies they have acquired.

The Chief Human Resources Officer will lead all aspects of human resources for MORSCO, which has grown over the past 8 years from $500M to $1.8B in annual sales. Dedicated to working with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT), the CHRO will create, implement and manage a blueprint of structures, processes, tools and systems that will support the realization of the MORSCO purpose and values.

Reporting directly to the CEO, Chip Hornsby, he/she will have a strategic partnership with the Global HR Director, Sally Young, for The Reece Group. This position sits on the SLT and has authority that includes vendor selection and management, infrastructure planning, budgeting and capital expenditures as defined by financial operating parameters for C level leaders. The scope of responsibility, both direct and indirect, will include all levels within the organization and this could potentially include temporary, contractor and brokered talent solutions. The CHRO will be tasked with continuing to build an HR function that is scalable, as MORSCO looks to double the size of their business through organic growth.
