Heartland Dental Retains Hanold Associates for Chief HR Officer Search

Heartland Dental has retained Hanold Associates for their Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) search. Neela Seenandan, Katie Traines and Sonia Nagra are leading the search located at Heartland Dental offices in either St. Louis or Chicago.

Heartland Dental is the largest Dental Support Organization (DSO) in the United States, supporting approximately 1,300 doctors practicing in 900 supported offices with over 7,000 operatories across 38 states as of 2018. They are projected to grow to 5,000 doctors by 2025.

Based in Effingham, Illinois, and founded in 1997 by Rick Workman, DMD, Heartland Dental offers supported dentists and team members continuing professional education and leadership training, along with a variety of non-clinical administrative services including staffing, human relations, procurement, administration, finance and accounting, marketing, and information technology services. Their “Lifetime Care” philosophy is designed to support doctors to provide high-quality dental care at 4.5 million patient visits annually.

On April 30, 2018, KKR acquired a majority interest in Heartland Dental and concurrently entered into a new refinancing package (the “Transactions”) which significantly bolstered the growth capacity of the company. The Transactions were valued at approximately three billion dollars and the acquisition by KKR was the largest and highest multiple paid for a DSO at the time of the merger.

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, Patrick Bauer, the Chief Human Resources Officer will lead a team of five direct and up to 50 indirect reports. The Chief Human Resources Officer will be the strategic HR leader responsible for developing and driving game-changing recruiting, learning and development and performance management strategies for Heartland Dental to enable its rapid growth.
