Delta Defense

Delta Defense has retained Hanold Associates for their Vice President of People search. Keri Gavin and Ashley Schiele are leading the search for the role located at the company’s headquarters in West Bend, Wisconsin.

Founded in 2003, Delta Defense provides marketing, operations and customer care for the United States Concealed Carry Association (USCCA). The USCCA provides self-defense education, training and legal protection to the most responsible gun owners. Over the last three years, they’ve grown by more than 200%, and in 2018, they ranked 2,181 on Inc.’s 5000 list and is one of the country’s fastest growing organizations.

Tim and Tonnie Schmidt founded the organization when they created the first issue of Concealed Carry Magazine, a self-defense publication that focuses on responsible firearm ownership. The magazine took off and grew into a national organization – the USCCA, a membership organization.

The USCCA’s mission is to arm their loyal members with the tools they need to safely and confidently protect themselves and their loved ones with the utmost peace of mind. By 2022, the USCAA will educate more than 10 million-gun owners, protect more than 1 million USCCA members, stop 20,000 crimes and save more than 1,000 lives. USCCA has more nearly 300,000 members and in the next five years they look to exceed 1 million.

Delta Defense employs more than 220 in 12 states and plans to double that number in the next four years. 2017 revenues were $56 million.

Reporting to Chief Executive Officer and Founder, Tim Schmidt, the Vice President of People will serve as a crucial member of Delta Defense’s leadership team and will assume responsibility of their most valuable assets—their people and culture.  They will partner with the executive team to implement people programs that reinforce the company’s core values, support employee and organization performance and drive professional growth.

The VP of People will be responsible for the overall alignment of the organization’s people and business objectives and will work to deploy the appropriate business policies, practices, compensation programs, communication and training to achieve these results.

Leading a growing team of three direct reports, the VP of People will navigate the complex issues of a hyper-growth organization, championing a people-focused and solutions-oriented approach to ensure that Delta Defense scales in effective and healthy ways.
